GLASS BLOWER

Chris Van Zanten is a multi-disciplined Glass Artist who started taking art and craft seriously in the mid 70's when he studied at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design. In the years since then his work can be found on 6 of 7 continents (sorry Antarctica) as well as shops and galleries across most of Canada. For a number of years some of his work could be found in the boutique of the National Gallery.

In 2005 Chris designed and built the equipment in his hot glass studio located in Pakenham, Ontario just west of Ottawa. He continues to push boundaries with his glass art work while also combining iron work to create indoor and outdoor sculptures. He still offer demo's, workshops and event experiences such as a 35 person mass cane pull for a Wedding Party in which the coloured glass canes were incorporated into numerous wedding presents. So, in the end everyone contributed and shared in the hot glass experience.

One of Chris' favorite times of the year is when he is a guest Artist at the Glass Artisan Studio and Gallery in Cape Breton N.S. A great time to develop new work and ideas (and enjoy the seafood of course). At this point Chris still sees new horizons to work toward and experiences to be gained.
